Oil for the Lamp : Our Services

Under the WVM umbrella is the Women of Wisdom Institute (WOWI), our human service outreach program. The Institute offers education and training relative to instilling self-improvement, family values, and economic restoration among African American women in the metropolitan Detroit area.

The Institute offers the following services: (at no charge to participants):

• 12 monthly non-denominational, non-sectarian workshops with topics ranging from loving yourself, career planning, and relationship development.

• Supplemental weekly support group meetings geared toward strengthening the lessons of the monthly workshop sessions.

Partnerships with outside non-profit agencies enable WVM to extend further education and training to the women who come to us:

WVM also has two 30-minute radio broadcasts where women can hear discussions on the areas that interest them.
